These labels are useful for early comparison, but they do not replace an approved physical reference. A project-specific groove, rib or corrugation may involve a different profile from a standard sample. Designing an Elevation with Texture
Start with Viewing Distance and Light
Fine strip-lines may be clear at close range yet merge into a broader tone from farther away. Deep corrugations remain legible at a larger scale but can produce pronounced shadow bands. Review samples from the expected approach and at more than one light angle. Photographs can support discussion, but screen brightness, camera exposure and image compression make them unsuitable as the only approval record.
Coordinate Module, Direction and Joints
A linear finish needs a deliberate direction. Confirm whether lines run horizontally or vertically, where they stop at cut panels, and how they align across joints and corners. The panel schedule should identify texture orientation rather than leaving it to site interpretation. Use Contrasts Deliberately
Combining plain and textured panels can distinguish volumes or emphasize selected bands. Before mixing finishes, decide whether the design seeks a subtle tonal shift or an obvious relief change. Keep Texture Separate from Glaze and 3D Inkjet

A Practical Sample Approval Workflow
- Define the design brief. State the finish family, target relief, color direction, panel format, orientation and intended location.
- Request labeled samples. Keep product codes, dates and revisions with every piece so options cannot be confused.
- Review a comparison set. Examine adjacent pieces rather than judging one isolated sample, and note the agreed visual range.
- Check representative conditions. View the samples at relevant distances, orientations and light angles with the proposed joint color.
- Build a larger mock-up when required. Include repeated panels, joints, a corner or opening, and transitions between finishes.
- Record the approval. Photograph and label the signed reference, note who approved it, and keep it protected for later comparison.
